When starting as an entrepreneur or as a freelancer, you'll find out that the only way of growing is by yourself.
This means that if you are not proactive no one is going to be for you.
Here are some tips to become your best self and be a great entrepreneur:
1. Always keep on learning
During our childhood and even when we get to university we never stop learning, so why should we stop learning when we start working?
"I already went to school, I'm not going to keep learning", "Why do I want to listen to that TED talk, I'd rather watch a series". These are phrases that I'm sure we have all heard or said at some point.
As an entrepreneur, you can't afford not to learn constantly in order to stay competitive. And this does not only mean studying from a book. Many times, as an entrepreneur, it is very valuable to learn from other entrepreneurs who have already gone down the road and have failed or succeeded.
A good tip is to choose some mentors and always listen to their advice. These mentors can be famous people (and in this case, you can listen to podcasts, read books, articles, and so on) or they can be people close to you (and you can ask them for meetings to directly ask about your problems or doubts).
2. Remember to be humble
About yourself: Feeling superior to everyone else is not such a smart quality to have. In this way, we would never learn how to be better people and better professionals.
Staying humble in the face of our own attributes and knowledge means knowing our limitations and weak points and where we need to focus to keep on learning and become better selves.
With this humility, we will also be able to focus on finding people for our team who can strengthen our weakest points.
About your work: "Never fall in love with a single idea."
This does not mean that you are not motivated by the idea you have in mind, it means that there should always be room for that idea to be improved or changed.
This way, if you see that your users or clients need something else, you will be able to pivot quickly to reach that market.
3. Don´t be afraid of failure
Statistics show that 1 out of 10 entrepreneurs is successful, which means that 9 out of 10 fail. Is it possible to avoid being part of that 9 out of 10?
Failure is an inevitable part of the journey. This does not mean that by failing, one should not keep trying. In fact, what could be easier than learning from the mistakes you made?
Nowadays, entrepreneurs who tried and failed are considered more valuable than those who did not try, because this indicates that they have already learned at least one important mistake that caused them to fail.
4. Work smarter, not harder
It is true that to succeed in your business, you have to work hard. However, this does not mean working 20 hours a day without any rest.
In fact, there are plenty of studies that show that rest is necessary to be productive during working hours.
In this article, we share with you 7 tips to be more productive during the day and work smarter.
5. Build a team according to the situation
In order to grow as an entrepreneur and with your business, it is important to have a team that supports this growth.
Some people are afraid to hire others who are smarter than them for fear of not knowing what they are doing. This is exactly what we should do, hire people more capable than you for different areas in which you are not an expert.
This way, you will be able to have faster growth in your venture and at the same time have a team that has diverse knowledge and expertise in all areas of the business.
